About Beta-Thalassemia
Beta-Thalassemia is an autosomal recessive
disorder caused by the absence or reduction of beta-globin chain
synthesis. The HBB gene provides instructions for making a protein
called beta-globin, which is a subunit of hemoglobin. Some mutations in
the HBB gene prevent the production of any beta-globin. The absence of
beta-globin is referred to B0 thalassemia. Other HBB gene mutations
allow some beta-globin to be produced but in reduced amounts. Reduced
amount of beta-globin is called B+ thalassemia. Lack of beta-globin
leads to a reduced amount of functional hemoglobin. The low number of
mature red blood cells leads to anemia and other associated health
problems amongst people with beta thalassemia.
Genorama Beta-Thalassemia genetic test
Genorama offers reliable Beta-Thalassemia genetic test based on flexible and cost-effective Arrayed Primer EXtension (APEX) genotyping. It analyses 69 Thalassemia genetic variations from beta-globin gene. Genorama Beta-Thalassemia genetic test is suitable for both diagnostics and carrier testing and it covers Mediterranean region specific genetic variations.
Genorama Beta-Thalassemia Analysis KIT is IVD CE certificated. The KIT includes all consumables for successful analysis process and provides all necessary reagents, PCR primers and arrays for 25 tests.
- PCR primers and Purification Kit
- APEX Template Preparation Kit
- APEX Reaction Mixture Kit
- Thalassemia microarrays
* Please note that you would need an operational Genorama® Genotyping PlatformTM before placing an order for Genorama genetic test Analysis KITs.
