Description

AMD is a degenerative eye condition leading to vision loss. AMD is the most common cause of vision problems among people over 60. AMD is caused by the damage of macula. The macula is the part of the retina that is responsible for sharp, central vision and colour vision. In some of the cases AMD advances slowly without people even noticing it. In others, the disease progresses faster and may drive to a vision loss in both eyes. During the aging process AMD patients gradually lose their ability for sharp central vision. The disease occurs as “dry” and “wet” forms. Around 90% of the AMD patients have the “dry” type of AMD.

AMD increased risk assessment enables prevention and early diagnosis of the disease. The early diagnosis is vital to delay progression of disease and vision loss.
